Description

Sasivekalu temple is a Hindu temple, located in Hampi 350 km north of Bangalore, in the state of Karnataka in southern India. It is part of the Group of Hindu Temple Monuments at Hampi.

Sasivekalu temple is dedicated to Ganesh, the elephant head deity, son of Parvati and Shiva. Also spelled Ganesa, Ganapati and Vinayaka, he is the deity who removes obstacles, a patron of arts and sciences, intellect and wisdom, blessings and good beginnings. Among Hindus, he is often remembered and honored at the start of rituals and ceremonies. His name and symbols are found from Ateshgah Fire Temple near Baku (Azerbaijan), throughout India to Hindu temples in Cambodia, Viet Nam and Bali, Indonesia.
