Summary

Description
English: Aringay Centennial Tunnel, is one of the great landmarks of La Union. It was constructed for trains of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) bound for Baguio City. The tunnel was later abandoned by the Commonwealth Government because of the Second World War.

According to the locals, La Union Centennial Tunnel already existed during the Spanish era and it was only during the American occupation when it was developed and fortified. During the Japanese occupation, the tunnel was used as headquarters of the Japanese Imperial Army because of its durability against US bombings. There were rising speculations that hidden treasures were buried in the area during the occupation.
