Summary

Description
English: Cropped from a map I own published by R. Wilkinson in 1808. The enclave of Lippstadt ("Lipstadt") to the southwest was a condominium shared by Lippe and the counts of Cleves-Mark, and later the Hohenzollerns. Schwalenberg ("Swalenburg") was a condominium shared by Lippe, the bishopric of Paderborn and the abbey of Corvey, until these two ecclesiastical states were secularized in 1803. (G. Benecke, Society and Politics in Germany 1500-1750, 1974, p. 42)
