English: Northern bedstraw (Galium boreale) takes its name from the practice in ancient times of using its fragrant blossoms and stems as mattress and pillow stuffing. A relative of the coffee plant, its seeds can be roasted and used as a coffee substitute. It also has a number of medicinal uses, from ringworm control through treatment of bladder infections and kidney stones. Its tiny, four-petaled flowers are a distinctive trait; it blooms from June through August.
