DescriptionFront entrance of Hardwick Hall - geograph.org.uk - 1629257.jpg
English: Front entrance of Hardwick Hall. Looking at the huge amount of window space on the western elevation. The path on the left leads to the kitchens, which is where the NT provides a surprisingly small dining space, perhaps the reason why they have planning permission in place to expand the site. Note the 'ES' stonework at the top of the towers, which Elizabeth, Countess of Shrewsbury had designed into the building to impress visitors. Above the main entrance on the roof is the family coat of arms - 1629263.
