Summary

Description
English: The components include:
  • E: internal combustion engine
  • 1: motor/generator 1
  • 2: motor/generator 2
  • "Power split distribution" planetary gear set
    • S: sun gear
    • P: pinion gears / carrier
    • R: ring gear
Primary traction is handled by the engine, driving the pinion gear carrier directly to turn the ring gear carrier, which is attached to the wheels. Motor/generator 2 is used to assist the engine directly. Motor/generator 1 is used primarily as a generator / alternator but it also acts as the engine starter.
