Summary

Description
English: Hampton Waterworks, Boilerhouse This was a working boilerhouse with a whole range of coal fired water-tube boilers (Babcock & Wilcox I think). The boilers with the chain grate stokers are to the right while down the left hand wall were the heaters and feed pumps. The boiler house also contained steam turbine drive induced and forced draft fans and air heaters. The bunkers were above the chutes in the centre and there was a conveyor system to feed them just below roof level. I have photos from the roof. This plant was retired c1984 when the pumps were all motorised. I understand these pumps are now the last above ground pumps at Hampton Waterworks and are due to be retired in the near future.
