Captain Joseph Fry, a sea captain involved in the Virginius Affair. Fry was born on June 14, 1826 in Tampa Bay, Florida. Member of the second graduating class of the U.S. Naval Academy and served in the U.S. Navy for 15 years, before joining the Confederacy during the American Civil War. Fry was promoted to Commodore in the Confederate Navy.
