Nederlands: Getalenteerde studenten willen graag naar elitescholen in onder andere Boston en New York in voorbereiding van de universiteit.

Maar is er een toegevoegde waarde van elitescholen boven de reguliere scholen? Joshua Angrist, hoogleraar economie aan MIT, heeft dit onderzocht en moet de conclusie trekken dat die toegevoegde waarde er nauwelijks is.

Wel is er een zogeheten "peer-effect" meetbaar voor kinderen uit minderheden, geen goed nieuws voor elitescholen.
