Summary

Description A set of lacquered flanged cups (top) and lacquerware dishes (bottom) from the Chinese Western Han Dynasty (202 BC - 9 AD), unearthed from the 2nd-century-BC Tomb No. 1 at Mawangdui, Changsha, Hunan province, China. The flanged cups have wooden bodies shaped by hewing. They were used for drinking and eating. Height: 6cm; length: 20 cm; width 14 cm. The lacquerware dishes have wooden bodies shaped by trimming. Height 4 cm; diameter 19 cm (at mouth).
