| Description |
English: The Nick Pesch Memorial is a monument to ethnic Germans in eastern Europe who were forcibly removed or deported to the Soviet Union as slave labor after the conclusion of the Second World War. The monument lists the 3 countries in which most of these ethnic Germans had lived: Romania, Yugoslavia, and Hungary. The monument, erected and dedicated in 1966, is on the grounds of the American Aid Society of German Descendants located at 259 W Grand Ave, Lake Villa, IL 60046. Pesch, the namesake of the monument, was an early leader in the efforts to provide aid, comfort, and support to ethnic German refugees in America after the War. |
