Summary

Description
English: Soldiers newly arrived in Afghanistan are pictured during a RSOI (Reception, Staging and Onward Integration) exercise.

Reception, Staging and Onward Integration (RSOI) is a 2 to 7 day package that all troops, up to 350 per day, must complete before moving to their forward units, wherever that may be in Helmand.

Day 5 on the RSOI is a mock Patrol Base Exercise. The soldiers are split into multiples and have to practice all drills taught throughout the week in order to conduct a shura in the mock village of Wahim Kalay.
