To the Glory of God and in memory of Major Gonville Bromhead VC 24th Regiment, born 29th August 1844 died 9th February 1891

One of many of the Bromhead family of Thurlby Hall with a distinguished military career. He was immortalised in the contemporary era by his portrayal by Michael Caine in the film 'Zulu' at Rorke's Drift where his heroic actions earned him the Victoria Cross
