Disputed Non-free Use Media Rationale

[edit]

[~ Deleted ~] I am replacing this discussion because of the extreme danger of misguiding people who read it. When I posted this material, I was naive and inexperienced, hence I misinterpreted several rules and guidelines. Instead, I'm writing this short description:

Wikipedia takes copyright seriously. Wikipedia accepts two types of media:

In Wikipedia, non-free contents must be used in compliance with Wikipedia Non-free Content Criteria policy. Clause three of this policy forbids the use of copyright material that have other embedded copyright material BUT may be safely replaced with copyrighted material that do not have those embedded contents.

Be warned: Wikipedians may use the term "fair-use" and "non-free" interchangeably. This is a critical mistake. These two terms are no interchangeable: For instance, Creative Commons-licensed images that only and only do not allow commercial use (but allow every other use without any limitation) are "non-free" (and are subject to NFCC) but are not "fair-use".
