Convention Chair

[edit]

The info box at top lists Minyon Moore as Chair of the convention, and the Monday agenda in this article refers to her as the "Permanent Chair of the DNC", but this is not correct. She is the chair of the Democratic National Convention Committee, which is the organization that prepares the convention. Her title is clear from the Monday agenda: https://demconvention.com/news/news/2024-democratic-national-convention-podium-schedule-monday-august-19-2024/ Instead, the convention has 4 co-chairs:https://demconvention.com/news/press-releases/democratic-national-convention-announces-2024-co-chairs/ Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan (MN) The Honorable Mitch Landrieu (LA) Senator Cory Booker (NJ) Representative Veronica Escobar (TX) Please correct. Well, I would note that the second link above refers to Moore as "Democratic National Convention Chair Minyon Moore", and a 2023 press release from the DNC also uses the same title, even though the daily agendas refer to her as the chair of the "Democratic National Convention Committee". The chair has always been a known elected figure in the past, which Moore is not. But clearly no other chair was named (just the 4 co-chairs I noted), so given the contradictory sources, seems OK to leave Moore as chair. Simon12 (talk) 01:44, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting proposal

The result of this discussion was not to split DimensionalFusion 🏳️‍⚧️ (talk) 17:05, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I propose that the Schedule section be split into a separate page called Schedule for the 2024 Democratic National Convention. This section is large and well-sourced enough to make its own page, and has been done previously as in Schedule for the 2008 Democratic National Convention. DimensionalFusion (talk) 15:26, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I oppose that. It is a WP:NOTDIR issue. Why don’t we just trim this page? Space can be saved by removing the portraits. Do we need the table listing each states roll call song? The 2008 page should be reexamined as well. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:31, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I cut the song table. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:57, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - Seems unlikely to cleanly split like that. We just need to do the work to remove non-notable info like Muboshgu suggested Bluethricecreamman (talk) 17:31, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support because this article/page is not a list, and the schedule is a list. JohnAdams1800 (talk) 18:08, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose because this has never been suggested in conventions past. Why now? Keep the schedule on this page. --Skeeball93 (talk) 12:27, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose, since there appears to be little to no precedent with regard to previous convention articles.--TommyBoy (talk) 03:12, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@TommyBoy Schedule for the 2008 Democratic National Convention says otherwise DimensionalFusion (talk) 09:56, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - This article should just be trimmed more. RickStrate2029 (talk) 18:53, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you need to change this

Round portraits of Harris and Walz

[edit]

Why are the photos of the nominated candidate in the infobox always on pages about US political parties national convention edited so strangely in a round format? Wouldn't it look better if they were portraits in normal portrait format? Cenbutz1 (talk) 10:54, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
