Birth date

[edit]

My research has her birth date as 30 September 1954, not 1959. Can anyone throw more light on this ?

somethings wrong!!!

[edit]

"Basia" is just a first name - the article should be in Basia Trzetrzelewska not here! Szczur Zosia 18:31, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • _ _ That is irrelevant. WP policy clearly calls for common names, and her common name & thus title are "Basia" just (even tho not as commonly known) as Madonna's are "Madonna".
_ _ Even if Basia, Pakistan were not a village too small for its article to mention its population, and were big enuf to drive her bio to a Dab'd companion of Basia (as London does London, Ontario), her bio would be Basia (singer), with the full name simply a Rdr.

Fair use rationale for Image:Primetime1.jpg

[edit]

Image:Primetime1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

BasiaSongs.com

[edit]

For the mention of Basia's upcoming album, It's That Girl Again, I've replaced the unacceptable claim from a fan website with a citation (and quote) from what is supposedly her official website, BasiaSongs.com. The trouble is that when you look behind the covers, this domain seems to be a front for "web.mac.com/whitegrainne", which makes it look an awful lot like a personal website — not an acceptable source. Do we have any evidence (i.e., a reliable source) that indicates BasiaSongs.com is truly official? If it isn't, first-person writing supposedly from Basia is deceptive, especially since this information is provided without dates or context that could provide secondary sources for cross-checking.

I can't tell which this is, because it seems just as likely to me that (A) an artist's helpful webmaster hasn't the least clue about how to present a well-organized, referenceable website, being more interested in flash and trendiness, like abysmally documented blog formats; or (B) a fan is sufficient web-savvy to create a semi-professional website using their web.mac.com user account and redirect all HTTP requests from a conveniently available and official-sounding name like "basiasongs.com" to this personal website. We need proof to indicate the true nature of this website. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 16:44, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moved to US/UK

[edit]

She was in a Polish band, then "From 1977, she sang with the rock group Perfect; settling temporarily in Chicago in 1979." Er, what? Wasn't Poland under communist rule then? There's a story missing here, I think, about how she was allowed to emigrate. -Rolypolyman (talk) 05:10, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was moved as per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC (both pages have been moved). As per this discussion, the artist's most commonly used name is "Basia", and the artist is the primary topic for the term "Basia" by itself. kotra (talk) 20:06, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Basia TrzetrzelewskaBasia — "Basia" is the name this singer use for singing. She isn't creating music as "Basia Trzetrzelewska". Marciooo (talk) 12:29, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was going to close this requested move (working through the backlog list). But knowing little about it, it is not clear to me that Basia Trzetrzelewska is well enough known to be moved to Basia, and there does not yet seem to be consensus for moving the article to Basia (singer) which might also cause problems with Basia Bulat. Hopefully there will be further discussion to make it easier for someone else to close this one. --PBS (talk) 19:53, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
