Choi Min-ho → Minho (entertainer) – Proposing moving the above pages from the current full name to the mononym as per WP:COMMONNAME. The subject of the article is most commonly known mononomously and does not use his full name in a professional capacity. Article states as such that the subject is known mononomously. Choosing the "entertainer" disambiguator because the subject is known as both a musician and actor.

Referring to the subject as his stage name would bring the article in line with other members of Shinee: Taemin, Onew, and Key.

@Jjpachano Just because he's credited as Choi Minho in his acting career doesn't mean that's automatically his WP:COMMONNAME. I would argue that he is much better known as a singer than an actor and, per WP:COMMONNAME, the majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources refer to him as "Minho".

Since the WP:COMMONNAME criteria specifically refers to how the subject is referred to in English-language sources, I went through the article as it stands right now: of the 55 English-language sources currently cited in this very article, 48 of them refer to him only by the mononym.

This is in addition to all the reliable English-language sources I cited in the original rationale, most of which are from the last 3 months. Despite being sometimes known as actor "Choi Minho", he is overwhelmingly referred to as just "Minho" in English-language sources just going off what is currently presented by this article itself, let alone any further sources. Wikipedia's article title policy WP:AT states: If an artist is widely recognized by their full name, that name is usually the article title. @Btspurplegalaxy There is no policy at WP:AT that states what you've put in the quote and Google returns no results for that sentence... not sure where that came from.

Anyway, what WP:AT does say is that Wikipedia: "prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources" - Given that 48 of the 55 English-language sources we've cited in this very article only refer to him as "Minho", I'm not sure how an argument could possibly be made that the mononym is not his WP:COMMONNAME.

In addition, there is no ambiguity with "Minho (entertainer)" as there are no other entertainers on Wikipedia that are mononomously commonly known as "Minho" per Minho#Entertainers RachelTensions (talk) 00:46, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've considered and acknowledged that he uses the name professionally; what you're not considering is that "Choi Min-ho" is very explicitly not the name he's most commonly known by as set out in the criteria listed in Wikipedia's article title policy at WP:Article Titles. A recent example is The Weeknd, who uses the name Abel Tesfaye professionally as an actor, but we're not changing his article name to that because it's obviously not his WP:COMMONNAME.

It's my understanding that requested moves are discussions, not just a poll of votes - a discussion by definition is a conversation back and forth, sometimes with differing viewpoints. If you no longer wish to participate in the discussion on matters relating to this article's alignment with Wikipedia's article title policy then you're welcome to disengage. Oppose Minho is a fairly common name within the South Korean entertainment industry. Minho (entertainer) could easily be mistaken for someone like Lee Min-ho or Jang Min-ho. Choi Min-ho is the most effective disambiguation. Artemisia (talk) 17:39, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose Per Artemisia. Very anecdotal here but I think that if someone said "Choi Minho" you'd know we're talking about the Shinee member but if you said Minho (entertainer, born 1991) it'd get confusing for the average person. As it is now it's more effective disambiguation, as mentioned. With that said, I'd be open to losing the hyphen as it appears that's his preference on his personal Instagram account. @Orangesclub Per Min-ho#Entertiners there are no other entertainers other than Choi Minho that use the mononym "Minho" so referring to them as such would be inappropriate.
