man this article had a *lot* of problems, and I'm pretty sure there are more. If there's anyone out there who is less of a wiki newbie than I who could give me a hand with tags and referencing, that would be great. Should the cleanup req'd tag be removed? DaveyE 20:52, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB lists Carrabba as 5'5": http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1443285/bio

Taken over by emotion

[edit]

This article seems to have been taken over by teenage angst and emotion. How could he have been given a forgotten guitar? It's likely that a forgotten guitar would not ever be remembered enough to be given to anybody or ever really been played. For instance, if I've forgotten my keys somewhere, it would be very unlikely that I'd be able to drive my car.

Music became 'second place' in his life? What exactly is first place? Crying? Wallowing in teenage pity? Being mad at mom and dad?

With disregard and utter contempt, Mike 19:46, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I understood it like this: Carrabba received a guitar at age 15, he had it somewhere, forgot about it for a while and on one nice day he decided that he should be doing something useful with it. -Mardus 23:28, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

married

[edit]

Can we clear up whether he is married or not? If it is unsourced, it only belongs in the article saying that it is unsourced. I took a look at the history, it appears as though someone changed some of the things like "Chris Carraba is of half Italian decent" to "Chris Carrabba is married to..." This looks to me like vandalism, but whatever. Can someone check, and if it is unsourced, change it back to what it used to be? The opening sentence in the second paragraph doesn't fit with the rest of the paragraph, that needs to be changed anyway. --Sbrools (talk . contribs) 04:53, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Even in their own website, Chris never really made a comment on that issue. He seem to want to keep his private life private. He doesn't even want to give a straight answer about him being commited or not.

Pronoun Usage

[edit]

Wikipedians, I would expect you write articles that use pronouns that don't confuse readers.

For example, how do you like this line:

Jack and Mike went fishing, and he caught a fish.

Which person is the 'he' referring to??

That line is what I thought of when I read this on the Chris Carrabba article:

He [Chris Carrabba] performed "Stolen" and "Vindicated" live on air. Kidd made a comment about him not appearing to be hardcore because of all his tattoos, he said "Well, get to know me."

---

Huh. That's almost as bad as people using plural pronouns because they're too wimped out to use the proper 'he' or 'she'.

A man walking down the street fell and struck their head on the pavement. Now they're bleeding to death.

Eye Sexing?

[edit]

Can someone please check to see if the part on eye sexing is vandalism? I couldn't find anything else that said that Chris Carraba has "eye sex" with the audience, and that really sounds like a bad joke that someone came up with when they were bored. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.168.152.68 (talk) 20:25, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I read on Chris's blog that everytime he performs, he actually looks at one person in particular and try to maintain eye contact with that person, its his way of staying connected to his audience. But he never mentioned anything about eye sex. Let's not pick and choose...

[edit]

Who keeps deleting my line about Chris Carrabba making the Blender worst 40 lyricists list? I mean, come on. He really is awful. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthewabaird (talkcontribs) 01:36, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's your opinion. And some of us don't share your sentiments. --::semper fidelis:: 12:31, 19 May 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fleurbutterfly (talkcontribs)

Well, apparently Blender does. If you look at the wiki pages of supermodels, they often have a list of magazines that rank them in the "100 Sexiest Women of 2008" or something similar. Why is it libelous or discriminatory to make a list of magazines that rank the "Worst of" something? This is not a Chris Carrabba fanpage. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthewabaird (talkcontribs) 18:20, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is it true that he's just 5'5"?

[edit]

Are you guys sure about this? I mean come on he doesn't look like one.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.133.195.70 (talk) 07:00, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've talked to him after concerts several times, and I'm always surprised at how short he is. I wouldn't doubt he's 5'5" Mjworthey (talk) 15:03, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He "doesn't look like one", one what?? A shorty short stuff little shorty short shorty McShorterson? That's rather rude of you. 4.255.48.153 (talk) 02:47, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Shade of Poison Trees

[edit]

When the single Thick as Thieves was leaked to the internet, alot of talk has been circulating that the song is about his favorite ice cream... Which is ofcourse hillarious. And alot of DC fans has been raving about the smashed apple logo of the album. Fleurbutterfly 20:08, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sister's car accident

[edit]

I removed the reference to a car accident involving his sister. There was no source and I couldn't find anything on Google to corroborate this statement. Mjworthey (talk) 20:35, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blender: 35th Worst Lyricist

[edit]

Some people insist on adding a reference to the Blender article that named Carrabba the 35th worst lyricist. I find it odd that the same people aren't clamoring to add that reference to the other lyricists named in the list. Despite this, and that I thought the article was more for comedic value than anything else, I thought that the reference should stand, but I added some context by naming some of the other "worst lyricists" ranked in the 30s (Paul McCartney and Billy Corgan). These names were then removed by an anonymous user (who had no other contributions). This is clearly trolls at work. If you insist on having the Blender reference, leave the context I've added. Thank you. Mjworthey (talk) 17:43, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Let's put it back up. Paul McCartney is quite terrible as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthewabaird (talkcontribs) 18:23, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Blender reference needs to be updated, the article is no longer available on-line. Perhaps a reference to the print edition? There are numerous online sources that have the list. But agree that the article is crap, Sting at the top of the list?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.231.129.52 (talk) 13:26, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
