Brienne prize

[edit]

Can somebody with better French than me double check the mention of the Brienne prize? Thanks. Kautilya3 (talk) 21:03, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I don't understand whay C Jaffremot (or me as he asked me to do so) can't modify his own page on wiki. We did so on the Frenc wiki without any problems (after we explain we just wanted to actualize the page (bio and bibliography) and add a photo, photo that I took myself, so which is ok for me to use. What is the problem for you ? I really have to change the page as my boss C Jaffrelot asked me to. What can I do to let me do it ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JuchieG (talkcontribs)

@JuchieG: welcome to Wikipedia. Please give Professor Jaffrelot our regards. We are great admirers of his work and we have cited it on dozens of pages.
You are welcome to the edit page, but only in accordance with English Wikipedia policies. I have given you pointers to the policies in my welcome message on your user talk page. Please read those policy pages. In particular, all content you add must be verifiable and neutral.
The very first edit you made deleted 1,706 characters of existing text, including the Infobox. You have not explained why you needed to do that. You have also put a lot of information into the WP:LEAD, which is meant to be a summary of the article, not the article itself. On the whole, your edits were not an improvement to the article.
I suggest that you first read the existing article thoroughly, and state what changes need to be made. You should also make sure that you make small edits and explain what you have done in the edit summary so that each edit can be independently reviewed. (edit conflict)Your comment indicates that you have a conflict of interest with Jaffrelot. You should not, therefore, edit the article at all; instead, feel free to propose changes here, but make sure to provide published reliable sources for them. Publication list

[edit]

The publication list is too long. It makes the page uninteresting. If a book has been published in both English and French, we need to merge their entries. Please suggest which entries can be merged in this way. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 11:20, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your answer. You are right I deleted the previous text to put a new one, you ask me why? because C Jaffrelot wanted me to do so. The new text was not that long. On the French wikipedia, it is all right. I understand what you ask me to do, change the existing page and not just put a new ne. Do you mean it is impossible for C Jaffrelot to change his own page?
I dont 'understand what you said about the books, merge their entries????

Please, let me put a new biography and bibliography of C Jaffrelot on the English wikipedia as it is on the French one. --Juchie G

It is not absolutely prohibited, but it is strongly discouraged. If there is something wrong and inaccurate, yes, it can be corrected. But the subjects of a page cannot put their own version of the content because we depend on what the WP:THIRDPARTY sources say.
As for the publications list, do you see the same book listed multiple times, in different languages? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 16:41, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
