Album Reviews

[edit]
changed mind about rfc for now Zclone (talk) 12:29, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TheJazzDalek has removed album reviews claiming that they are non-pro reviews per WP:ALBUMS. "Professional reviews may include only reviews written by professional music journalists or DJs, or found within any online or print publication having a (paid or volunteer) editorial and writing staff (which excludes personal blogs)."

  • Type 3 Media reviews appear to qualify for inclusion because they are an online publication with a writing staff and appear to be independent of the artists, record companies, etc.

Need consensus on the above before the reviews should be re-added to the page.

User TheJazzDalek has removed TuneLab reviews from other sites and it is unclear why this review was not deleted as well.

Both sites qualify because they are an online publications having a (paid or volunteer) editorial and writing staff. It is an or logic statement, not an and, meaning the criteria is more inclusive than exclusionary.
The reliable source issue seems to be arbitrary at best. There is no specific language in the reliable source article regarding what constitutes a reliable source for album reviews. However, looking at the other criteria, both sites are third-party, published sources of material from publications which focus on music industry journalism. Album reviews by nature are considered opinion pieces, or statements of opinion, but since the article does not rely on them as source material, there is no conflict there either. Please refer to this WP:ALBUMS discussion as well. Zclone (talk) 23:55, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
