  • Reviewer: If you feel "for only awarding one winner a GameCube controller?" is better than "for awarding one winner only a GameCube controller?", feel free to just change ALT1. I couldn't decide where to place the "only". The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 00:11, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
While that prize is an absolute joke, I don't think it is entirely neutral or necessary to describe the criticism as "significant" in the article. The source also doesn't directly attribute the criticism to Nintendo. On the hook, I do not see how the article supports "many" tournaments lacking cash prizes, as it mentions only one. That gambecube controller fact is hooky indeed though, so I think if it was reformulated, perhaps to be shorter and more punchy, it would be a great hook. CMD (talk) 15:01, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Chipmunkdavis: I've changed the word from "significant" to "widespread" and added more sources. I can find as many more sources as you'd like - there was significant coverage of that prize. Here's a some alts:
ALT1b ... that prize pools in major Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournaments are smaller than those of other fighting games, with one premier event awarding only a Switch controller?
ALT1c ... that Nintendo received widespread criticism for awarding the winner of a major Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament only a Switch controller?

Well good thing the additional sources clarified what kind of controller it was. with a preference for 1b, although perhaps Switch should be linked. CMD (talk) 01:15, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

UltRank

[edit]

UltRank has surpassed the PGRU as most authoritative ranking of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players, with the Panda Global boycott as well as the PRGU having been stopped. Sources: Upcomer, Esports.net, Dot Esports --Meester Tweester (talk) 07:15, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Article needs update

[edit]

This article is in horrible need of an update and rewrite, the kast tournamnet it lists in S Tier is "GENESIS 9" which was over a year ago. Additionally, the PGRU ceased opreating in 2022 and was replaced b the UltRank which is now called LumiRank. More tournaments need to be added as well. --VOIDDED (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 22:59, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
