2013 Anniversary Games

[edit]

There should be a separate page for the 2013 London Grand Prix considering its the Anniversary Games and also the first major event to take place at the Olympic Park since the Olympics and Paralympics last year especially as all the big stars are going to be taking part . I do think it's a bit dubious to have the "Sainsbury Anniversary Games" name and the Olympic stadium in the infobox as this event has been going for 60 years not under that name, not at that venue and won't be called that/held there again. danno_uk 19:15, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No there should not be a separate page. The able bodied Anniversary games is the Grand Prix in disguise, which is part of the diamond league and that is nicely documented on the 2013 DL page. Danno the Grand Prix will probably move to the Olympic Stadium in 2018 so stadium should in fairness stay in the box, although I agree that the 2013 title probably should not be in the infobox as that includes the Paralympic event as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.18.1.21 (talk) 21:21, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the anniversary games is back in 2014, compeltely seperate from the LondonGRand PRix DL meeting which has been moved to Glasgow. I think at this stage, a separate page is probably required. Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) 12:06, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is stated as a one-off move while the Olympic Stadium is undergoing work. I would hold off creating an article this year and see if its back again in London on 2015 (as planned by British Athletics). SFB 17:54, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
the problem is that the london grand prix is carrying on, albeit moved to Glasgow for a year - there will be two events this year - a sanibury's grand prix in glasgow which is the moved london grand prix DL meeting; and a completely separate anniversay games in the mall. If you type in annivesary games, why should you be redirected to london grand prix, when in fact it's a wholey separate and different event by the same name ? @Mpjmcevoybeta: It looks like these topics are getting fuzzier and more disconnected. Still, I think this is better dealt with by using a section in this article to describe both the 2014 Glasgow and Anniversary games events. There doesn't seem to be any indication that either the Glasgow Grand Prix or distinct Anniversary games will last beyond this year (making them struggle to meet Wikipedia:Notability (events)). Event Dates

[edit]

I'm a little confused with some of the dates in the article. It mentions the the event was held between 1953–2012 at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, a venue which it appears didn't open until 1964. It states the Emsley Carr Mile remains a fixture at the annual meeting, with a history spanning back to 1953 at the White City Stadium. Was the Mile a different event which was later merged into the London Grand Prix, and if so did (the precursor to) the London Grand Prix start later than 1953?
