Advertising

[edit]

This page reads like an advertisement, not like an encyclopedia article. I removed one paragraph, and 3 of the links as they seemed irrelevant. Article still needs massive improvement. --Xyzzyplugh 14:27, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I made an attempt to clean it up, and I dropped the advert tag. I think I got rid of most of the blatent POV content. The guy is certainly noteworthy enough for an article, but the original version was definitely a bit over the top. fbb_fan 03:26, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure where you got that impression, but the original article was incredibly rich in accurate detail that seems to have been expunged--for no reason I can find. This kind of information is the raison d'etre of Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Godofredo29 (talkcontribs) 19:36, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an accurate article describing Westside Barbell and only hinting at the complex, yet very effective training methods used at that gym. There is nothing in it that reads like an advertisement. J. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.164.176.38 (talk) 19:59, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

→This IS an advertisement. This is the exact same marketing copy that's used on the Westside Barbell website.

Louie's age

[edit]

How old is Louie? This is important if you are into weightlifting. I am 59 and I suspect he's about my age. Fletcherbrian (talk) 21:50, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just know that, after high school, Louie was drafted into the Army and served in Germany. He always joked about how, while there, he and another soldier got into a fist fight and broke each other's jaw ending them up in beds next to each other in the hospital. 2600:1702:3020:1CD0:9521:7740:39BB:845F (talk) 18:07, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article is undeleted

[edit]

The subject is notable, but the old article was written too much like an advertisement. I cleaned up the text to focus on Simmons' achievements and notability, and principal features of the Westside method. This article would benefit from more verifiable information about the gym, the method, and teams and athletes who use it. 75.180.29.69 (talk) 02:13, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know who you are. But, you took out a ton of really useful information. This from a guy who was training with Louie when it was just him and me. Godofredo29 (talk) 13:30, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge of Conjugate method

The result of this discussion was to merge

I propose that Conjugate method be merged into the article on Louie Simmons. Westside Barbell already redirects to Louie Simmons and the conjugate method's claim to notability is through the connection to Simmons' gym and training method. Currently, the Conjugate method article is very short and in places copied word-for-word from the sole reference. Unless the description of the conjugate method can be significantly developed in that article, it would be best presented as part of the Louie Simmons article. 75.180.29.69 (talk) 13:55, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
