Release Dates

[edit]

From everything I've read so far, I believe the MAX machine succeeded the C64 and not preceeded it, as the page currently states. I'll try and dig up some factual data to confirm this.

You are probably mixing it up with the C64GS? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.141.199.58 (talk) 19:52, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I believe it was before the C64. It was advertised for sale in the UK through catalogues like Grattan. My parents ordered one, we waited months and eventually they sent a VIC-20 stating the Max was pulled from release. This was definitely before the C64 was released. 84.66.117.36 (talk) 16:18, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the previous person. I remember seeing it in a Quelle catalog in Germany as a kid, but I'm confused, I thought back then that it was a cheaper version of the VIC-20 not the C-64. If it does have the C-64's hardware, that's kind of odd. Perhaps I didn't pay much attention to the details back in the day! :D 2003:73:AE32:5086:E008:75E6:5A2D:94BF (talk) 15:14, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2K, not 4K

[edit]

The Max had only 2K built in, not 4K. Here's an image of the board, clearly showing a single M58725 (2K x 8 static RAM):
