Merge to muscle

Merge - I think this article should be merged to the muscle entry - Orange. WLU 13:38, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

The muscualar system is more specific -- dealing specifically with human -- and the predominating style is that each human biological system has its own seperate page. See: bottom of the page, Urinary System, et al. 71.195.171.5 18:32, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Vote against muscle should not be merged with muscular system any more than heart should be merged with cariac system. There is tons of information that could be included in muscles. Force-length curves, force-velocity curves, histology, myosin bands, etc. Muscular system should deal with more global things like control, lever-arms skeletal-muscular interations, etc.

ask

can i ask? whats the function os muscular system and its cells?

Reply: To move the body. The primary function of all muscles is to generate force, though they are also used to generate heat. WLU 12:22, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

so who?? and why the diff. kinds of muscles named??? where did he base those names??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.52.21.97 (talk) 12:38, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

On another note someone has vandalized and added rotator cuff as a seperate muscle at the bottom of the list. I suggest that entrys removal since no other stabilization / minor muscles grouped up under one non-latin, non-medical names is mentioned and as such its sort of pointless.Frisken (talk) 12:49, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Picture

Don't you think an anatomical picture of muscle from say Gray's anatomy or any university level textbook would be more appropriate than a picture of a bodybuilder in this entry? The tone of the article requires a more suitable picture IMO. See here or here for example. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.140.6.250 (talkcontribs)

The article could use both as the anatomical diagrams are not as good at showing what muscles look like on a real human being. However, we are limited in the images available - see WP:IMAGE, we can't just pull images off the 'net and post 'em. WLU 13:30, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

This article should have anatomical diagrams as it reads like something from an A+P textbook. I fail to see how the first linked picture does not adequately display muscle fibers and place them relative to their position on the body. Put it this way: if this wikipedia page was found in a textbook, there wouldn't be a picture of a random bodybuilder in it, but rather one that properly illustrates the related text. I understand that you can't randomly link pictures, but surely there is a free license pic of muscle fibers somewhere on the web, or at least something better than the current picture.

I agree, the page should have an anatomical diagram, though a picture of a person with a highly visible muscular system is also appropriate. Feel free to find such a diagram on Wikimedia Commons or another fair use image and add it to the page. Don't forget to sign your posts. WLU 18:17, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

heading structure

The structure of the muscles heading is confusing me. The section on skeletal muscles has 2 subheadings and I'm not sure if those two headings belong outside of the muscles section. It seems like the section should be devoted to the types of muscles. Olleicua (talk) 15:20, 31 March 2008 (UTC) what helps the body move? Muscular system

The muscular system is the anatomical system of a species that allows it to move. The muscular system in vertebrates is controlled through the nervous system, although some muscles (such as the cardiac muscle) can be completely autonomous. Tendons- connect our muscle so our muscle can't be scattered. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.105.75.26 (talk) 09:34, 17 June 2009 (UTC) The muscular system is responsible for the movement of the human body. Attached to the bones of the skeletal system are about 700 named muscles that make up roughly half of a person’s body weight. Each of these muscles is a discrete organ constructed of skeletal muscle tissue, blood vessels, tendons, and nerves. Muscle tissue is also found inside of the heart, digestive organs, and blood vessels. In these organs, muscles serve to move substances throughout the body.

Specifying human focus

I think the lead should be reworded to specify the article's human focus. Either that or the non-human info should be expanded. –Temporal User (Talk) 04:28, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
