Random Thoughts (Faye Wong album) → ? – It is the Cantonese album with one Mandarin song. Should the title be woo si lyun seung, woo si lun seung, or another romanization of 胡思亂想? There are very little or no reliable English sources that translates the title. Although Random Thoughts is commonly translated by fans, there is another translated title, Thinking Here and There from one source. Frankly, there is no other title with similar romanized name. Another article translates it into Wondering Music. George Ho (talk) 16:09, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment what did the Hong Kong English language press use? -- 70.24.250.103 (talk) 04:17, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment HK English language press is mainly business/politics and doesn't review most Cantopop CDs. Shane Homan Access All Eras: Tribute Bands and Global Pop Culture 2006 p228 gives "Faye Wong (1993) 100,000 Whys? Hong Kong: Cinepoly. Faye Wong (1993) No Regrets. Hong Kong: Cinepoly. Faye Wong (1994) Mystery. Hong Kong: Decca/Cinepoly. Faye Wong (1994) Random Thoughts. Hong Kong: Cinepoly." appears to have used some kind of industry source. Propose Either remain where is (not brilliant) or Wu si lyun seung (Faye Wong album) using Yale Romanization for consistency with wiktionary character links (, Wu si lyun seung Yale Romanization) and retaining (Faye Wong album) as parenthetical assistance per WP:NAMINGCRITERIA #1 and #2. In ictu oculi (talk) 02:18, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That "assistance" is unnecessary, unless there is one more article with similar Chinese name. --George Ho (talk) 18:16, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
As other articles I believe that given the mess of Cantonese romanization systems it is necessary when we are inventing a romanized title which does not otherwise exist. Titles are there to help readers, not to hide articles. In ictu oculi (talk) 18:28, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Complicated competition of Cantonese Romanization is not enough reason to go for parenthesis "assistance", as you call it. --George Ho (talk) 23:45, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - okay George, you've convinced me, I've come round. If we can use Mandarin for albums like Teresa Teng's Dandan you qing when there is no English, then we can use Cantonese. My worries about the competing Cantonese romanization systems aren't a significant justification for the extra parenthetical assistence. The first line of lead will still come up on Google and the original research nature of these unsourced or conflicting English titles is the bigger problem. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:02, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Provided we use Yale, which is what wiktionary seems to use. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:03, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose bit of a conundrum, but I don't like this trend of renaming cantopop albums merely for the paucity of sources for the various 'English titles'. If anything there isn't such a thing as standardised cantonese pinyin, and the sinicised names as proposed look weird, are completely meaningless to the English-speaker, and it has to be said these sinicised names have definitely not passed into English language. -- Ohconfucius ping / poke 09:10, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, even though MOS:ALBUM seems to require it and I have accepted it on other pages; IMHO that's not a great policy, and the current name is fine. – Fayenatic London 19:40, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
