Definition

[edit]

I think we need some mention of the most common meaning of this word: an explanation of the basis or fundamental reasons for something. --James S.talk 04:47, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of cities

The list of examples from the Catholic Encyclopedia is marked with e.g.; this list is not complete (Muenster, for example), and should be summarized severely. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 18:58, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology

[edit]

«The rationale is named after the breast ornament of a Jewish high-priest, which was a wooden brooch, overlaid with enamelled metal, fastened high up on the breast of chasubles that had no central orphreys.»

I don't see any etymological connection here. What does the Latin root ratio have to do with the vestment? Since I have no adequate sources, I cannot correct this explanation in a founded manner. Can you help?--Der Spion (talk) 19:52, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
