editing infobox

[edit]

I have just encountered Basket_Range,_South_Australia after a series of edits where the infinite number of idiosyncracies of historical census info suddenly hit...

It might, be more appropriate for something beyond your project to consider the highly variable nature of population information in the actual text as opposed to the info box, but the Basket Range info box offered yet another part of the infinite variables of details in the box, but as pointed out elsewhere is statistically an exception... I dont want to create an issue, but possibly in the to do/investigate later if considered within scope - there is the wildcard of whether previous censuses info can be included without making the whole thing go kwzoompoozleblongke or something similar.

Trust the results overall stats for the project are looking good... JarrahTree 02:52, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

heheh - the idea of the capacity to include previous census results without taking it into the size late douglas adams obsession with improbability numbers would be really great, as long as it is feasible... the basket range infobox where the change in population can be grasped fairly easily, appeals, but only if it can be within reason accommodated... Yes, tackling in-text population numbers (and their references) is definitely on our radar. We've spoken about this with Kerry and 99of9 a bit. We made a few attempts to integrate this type of output into the first version of the module but came up against reference merging problems. So it's high on the list of things to tackle next but a few tricky reference-related things to be tackled. I'll keep you posted when we get back to it.
But, yes, thanks to you, Calistemon and Sam there are lots of Infoboxes using the module now! Keep catching those outliers please :) MaiaCWilliams (talk) 03:01, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Betterkeks#Derby, Western Australia it might be a peripheral conversation, but I keep thinking it might be linked in some way, but not sure... JarrahTree 09:50, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, we noticed this conversation and we've added that problem to the to-do list (here). Definitely related, we just need to find time to sit and find a way to fix the coordinate - population interaction that happens in the Coord template. MaiaCWilliams (talk) 10:36, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
