Vladimír Weiss (21 September 1939 – 23 April 2018) was a Czechoslovak football defender and coach.
Biography
[edit]Weiss represented Czechoslovakia national football team between 1964 and 1965, winning the silver medal for Czechoslovakia at the 1964 Summer Olympics.[1] He went on to play in a 0–1 1966 FIFA World Cup qualification defeat against Portugal.[2]
Weiss' son, also named Vladimír, is head coach numerous football teams, including Slovakia and Slovan Bratislava. His grandson, named Vladimír Weiss as well, plays for Slovan Bratislava, having also appeared in Premier League, La Liga and Serie A.[citation needed]
Weiss died on 23 April 2018 at the age of 78 due to unspecified long illness.[3]
