The 2001 Malaysia Premier League was the fourth season of the Malaysia Premier League, the second tier of Malaysian football. A total of 12 teams participated in this season.[1]

Sabah and Brunei were relegated from Liga Perdana 1, while Kedah JKR and PDRM were promoted from Malaysia FAM League.[1]

The season began on 2 April 2001.[1] Johor FC won the title and was promoted to Liga Perdana 1 alongside Sabah and NS Chempaka.
