Abdul Momin Mondol is a Bangladeshi business man and a former member of Bangladesh Parliament representing Sirajganj-5 constituency.

Early life

Abdul Momin Mondol[2] was born in Sirajgonj & and grew up in Dhaka, the vibrant capital of Bangladesh. From a young age, he demonstrated a strong interest in entrepreneurship, frequently coming up with innovative ideas. Mr. Mondol completed his secondary education at a local school, followed by his HSC from Dhaka Commerce College. He later earned a BBA from East West University, one of Bangladesh's leading private institutions.

His father, the late Al-Hajj Abdul Mojid Mondol,[3] initially built a successful career in the local textile business and became one of the largest wholesalers in the early 1980s. A decade later, he expanded into the RMG export sector, becoming a renowned businessman and establishing what is now Mondol Group.

Growing up in a business-oriented environment, Abdul Momin Mondol witnessed his father's dedication, vision, and business acumen, which deeply inspired him. Committed to becoming a part of the family business, he began developing strategic ideas for its growth. After completing his education, he fully immersed himself in the business, and through his passion, dedication, and expertise, he rose to the position of managing director.

Career Beginnings

After graduating in 2002, Mr. Mondol joined his family business where he gained valuable experience in production and marketing. His sharp analytical skills and strong dedication quickly established him as a promising figure in the RMG industry. Later, Abdul Momin Mondol [2] was elected to parliament from Sirajganj-5 as a candidate of the Bangladesh Awami League.[4][5]

Entrepreneurial Journey

Mondol has successfully expanded the RMG business globally, establishing Mondol Group as a prominent name in the industry. The company has worked with renowned international brands, providing high-quality RMG products and excellent customer service. Under his leadership, Mondol Group has experienced significant growth, operating over 24 knit garment concerns that employ 52,000 people. In the fiscal year 2023-2024, Mondol Group exported RMG valued at over half a billion USD, a substantial increase from 478.8 million USD two years prior.

He also served as an elected Director of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) during the 2011-2012 session and was appointed as a Director of the Board of Midland Bank, reflecting his visionary leadership and successful business acumen.

Beyond his business endeavors, he is deeply committed to giving back to his community. He has actively contributed to various charitable organizations focused on education, healthcare, and religious initiatives. The 'Haji Abdul Majid Mondol Foundation,' was established with aims to empower the next generation through scholarship programs and vocational training initiatives, helping young people reach their full potential.

Politics

His father, Abdul Majid Mondol, served as a member of parliament from Sirajganj-5 from 2014 to 2018. [3] Motivated by the needs of his community, he aspired to represent the interests of his constituents. Following his father's tenure, Abdul Momin Mondol [2] was elected from the same constituency for two consecutive terms, reflecting the continuous demand of the local populace. In addition to his successful business endeavors, he remained dedicated to his role as a Member of Parliament, earning a reputation as a respected and principled leader.

Recognition and Legacy

Abdul Momin Mondol has been recognized for his significant contributions to the country's economy and society, receiving numerous awards for his entrepreneurship and community service. He has been named a Commercially Important Person (CIP) five times by the Bangladeshi Government. For the last decade, Mondol Group has been consistently receiving the “Export Trophy”, a widely recognized national award for their outstanding performance.
