Category:Tertiary volcanoes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Volcanoes that were active in the Tertiary period (65 million years ago to 1.8 million years ago). 'Tertiary' is now deprecated by the International Commission on Stratigraphy as a formal geochronological unit, having been more recently split into the Paleogene period with the two most recent epochs reallotted to the Neogene period, but, as the term had a long history of use, it is still seen, especially in old vulcanology works, sometimes without specifying the epoch or time span.
