Distressor is the debut extended play by Modesto-based shoegaze band Whirr. The EP was self-released by Whirr in 2010 and repressed by Graveface on June 14 2012.[1]

Background

[edit]

Nick Bassett had originally written demos where he showed the band during their first practice together on halloween night of 2009 with members Bassett, Miranda, Rivera, and Salgado. They later added Bautista and Munoz to their ensemble. During the pre-produciton of these songs, the group decided to pursue a shoegaze direction influenced by the sounds of My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive. Bassett also cited Chapterhouse and The Smiths as influences.[2]
