It dates back to ancient times and is one of the largest farms on the island. Enhus was fully or partially part of the monastic estate during the Catholic period and later belonged to the Crown. The farm was donated as a gift to the lawman, Erich Thorsen, in Fredrikstad in 1422 or 1423 and served as his residence for a time. After his death, the farm was managed by tenant farmers from the same family for generations. In 1756, the farm was sold at a public auction to the statesman Søren Klæboes.

The farm still has significant arable land and rents out a large number of cottage plots along the west coast and at Enhuskilen. The old main building burned down in the 1980s, and a new main house was constructed.

Enhuskilen is the northernmost of the inlets that, in a northeasterly direction, cuts into the west coast of Kråkerøy, and contains a cabin area, a campsite, and a beach.

From Rød, Enhusveien continues as a direct extension of Rødsveien past Enhuus farm up to Kråkerøyveien at Kråkerøy church.
