Founded in 1987 in Tolentino, Italy, by Fabio Gattari.[1], Etere has established itself as a leading provider of innovative software solutions tailored for broadcasters, media organizations, and educational institutions worldwide.
History
[edit]Originally known as SIS (Societa Italiana Software) [2], the company gained recognition in 1989 with the development of software designed for private broadcasting. In 1990, SIS launched a pioneering software solution for managing transmission logs, which quickly gained popularity in the market.
A significant collaboration in 1991 with the Italian company Audiologic led to the creation of a computer-based radio automation system, enabling SIS to manage a substantial number of radio stations across Italy. By 1992, SIS had developed the Etere software as an end-to-end solution aimed at integrating all facets of broadcast operations, thereby streamlining workflows within a comprehensive management system.
Over the subsequent years, Etere software was adopted by various national broadcasting companies and numerous small to medium-sized enterprises, including several international television networks. In 1993, SIS introduced a professional audio signal management system that integrated with administrative software and network services. This innovation solidified SIS's position as a key system provider for the Italian state broadcaster, RAI.
By 1997, SIS launched its first product compatible with Microsoft Windows, and by the end of that year, its traffic management software was utilized by 200 stations. In 1998, the company fully shifted its focus to software development. By April 1999, SIS split into two entities: Etere retained the software division, while a newly formed SIS Nord Italia took over the public notaries software business. The following year, SIS was officially renamed Etere, transitioning its database to the Microsoft SQL2000 platform to enhance speed, data security, and interoperability.
By 2012, Etere experienced rapid expansion in Asia, establishing a new headquarters, Singycon, in Singapore. Fabio Gattari relocated to Singapore as the company maintained support operations from its original office in Tolentino. Singycon registered the ‘Etere’ name as a trademark, officially incorporating as Etere Pte. Ltd..
In 2017, Etere celebrated its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of innovation in the broadcast software sector. With its Singapore headquarters and a support center in Italy, the company opened a Dubai office [3] in 2022 and established Etere LLC in 2023 to further penetrate the East Asian market.

Etere collaborates with prominent partners, including Apple, [6] Adobe,[7] and Bluefish444.[8]

In 2020, Etere implemented a large-scale newsroom system for over 150 journalists at Romanian television enterprise Aleph Media. [12] The same year, the Georgian Public Broadcaster selected Etere to manage the end-to-end broadcasting workflow for three of its television channels. [13]
