Mariam Rajput (born September, 1989) is an American-Pakistani Painter and Arabic calligraphy artist.[1] Her style blends modern painting techniques with traditional Islamic art forms.[2]
Influenced by her dual American and Pakistani heritage, Rajput draws on the rich artistic traditions of Islamic Illumination to create art that reflects both cultural diversity and shared human experiences.[2]
She lives in the United States.
Rajput is a featured artist with Saatchi Art,[3] Las Laguna Gallery[4], and Art in Embassies,[5] a division of the United States Department of State.
Early life and education
[edit]Rajput was born in Karachi, Pakistan. Her artistic journey is rooted in Islamic art, sacred geometry and calligraphy. Rajput holds a Masters degree in applied behavior analysis and is currently a Ph.D Candidate in clinical psychology in the United States.[6]
Awards and recognitions
[edit]Rajput's first major recognition was in 2018 from WomanUp! in Philadelphia[7] where she was awarded the 'Women's Empowerment Award' for her contributions to art and her community. More recently she has been recognized as a 'Rising Star' by the American Pakistan Foundation's Women Who Soar Award[8][9] in 2023.
