Matthias Debono (born 11 February 2002) is a Maltese professional footballer who plays for Naxxar Lions on loan, in the Maltese Premier League
Club career
[edit]Matthias Debono grew trough the Ħamrun Spartans youth academy till 2020.
On March 14, 2020, he was signed by the senior team of Hamrun Spartans, and played 5 games for them.
In August 2022, Debono joined Tarxien Rainbows on a year loan deal till 2023. Debono played 17 games for Tarxien Rainbows.
In the Summer transfer window of 2023, he joined Naxxar Lions on a 2 year-loan till 2025.[1] He is currently a starting goalkeeper for the club.
International career
[edit]Mathhias Debono started his international career in the Malta U-16 team in 2018. He played only 2 games for the team, being against Austria and Gibraltar, both being an international friendly.
In 2022, Debono was applied to the Malta U-21 team. As of May 2024 he has played 8 games for the under-21 team, all of them being an international friendly. Debono still plays for the under-21 national football team.
