Mirjana Vodopija (Zagreb, 1963) is a prominent Croatian visual artist, academic painter, graphic artist, and set designer. Since 2023, she has been a full professor with a permanent title at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb

Mirjana Vodopija graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Zagreb in 1982. That same year, she enrolled in the Graphics Department at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb. In 1987, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb, in the class of Professor Miroslav Šutej, earning the title of academic painter-graphic artist.

She has been exhibiting since 1985 and has held numerous solo exhibitions. She also participates in many group exhibitions, curatorial projects, international art symposiums, and professional training both in Croatia and abroad.

In her artistic work, she explores questions of consciousness and the perception of light, time, and space, often intertwining various artistic disciplines and media: drawings, graphic prints, photographs,[1] objects, installations, video installations, and environments.


A monograph about her artistic work, featuring text by art historian Branko Franceschi, was published in 2004 by the publishing house Fraktura.

Since 2015, she has been a member of the professional council of the Gallery SC at the University of Zagreb, which supports the work of young artists in its activities.[2]

Since 1988, she has been working as a freelance collaborator with HRT (Croatian Radiotelevision) as the author of around one hundred set designs, openings, jingles, illustrations, and visual identities for their productions. She has also designed music, dance, and promotional videos, as well as concert and theater set designs.

Since 2007, she has been employed at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, initially as an assistant professor, and then as an associate professor. Since 2017, she has held the title of full professor, and since 2023, she has been a full professor with a permanent position.[3]

She received the Vladimir Nazor Award in 2019 in the category of Visual and Applied Arts.[4]
