Moonchain is a blockchain platform that operates a Layer 3 network built on Ethereum. It is focused towards decentralized solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT), Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Overview
[edit]Moonchain was initially launched in 2018 by the Moonchain Foundation in Berlin, Germany. Moonchain's network is built on Ethereum and leverages zkEVM (zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine) technology to enhance scalability, privacy, and cost efficiency.[1][2][3][4]
Moonchain supports decentralized Internet of Things (IoT) and decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN). The platform aims to provide scalable solutions for the connectivity and data transfer of IoT devices.[5][6]
In 2024, Moonchain launched its own mainnet and native cross-chain products to facilitate transactions across different blockchain networks.[7][8][9]
Moonchain's native token, MXC, is used for transactions, gas fees, and governance within the network. It is also employed in decentralized applications hosted on the Moonchain platform.[10][11]
