- Comment: this entry now meets WP:NAUTHOR and promotional tone has been corrected, so it should be accepted. Paul Linnet co-authors with Sue Hendra so if her page is valid, so is this one
- Comment: Likely meets WP:NAUTHOR but I can say now because of the promotional tone of the draft and series of unreliable sources, hence my decline. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 02:29, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: The provided sources about Linnet aren't very high quality, and the various awards aren't clearly notable either. But it's possible that Linnet is notable per WP:NAUTHOR if multiple of his books pass WP:NBOOK. I suggest adding book reviews as citations for each of the listed works; each book with 2+ reviews is an NBOOK pass. ~ L 🌸 (talk) 05:04, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: I have added the template to allow for resubmission, did a little work on it but this still needs more work with the prose and sourcing before it should be resubmitted. It appears some content was copied from Sue Hendra, however most of those sources made no mention on Linnet so I removed it. Please only cite sources to which you have access and be sure the source supports the content. S0091 (talk) 18:33, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
Paul Linnet (born April 1968) is an English author and illustrator based in Brighton.[1] Along with British author and illustrator Sue Hendra, Linnet has published over 100 children's books.
Linnet is a regular guest at many prestigious International literary festivals, including Edinburgh International Book Festival[2] and the International Literature Festival Dublin.[3]
Work
[edit]Sue Hendra and Linnet's children's books include Barry the Fish With Fingers, Egg, and the extensive series of best-selling Supertato books,[4] the first of which has sold over a million copies. [5]
Linnet and Hendra wrote Supertato: Hap-Pea Ever After for pre-school children in 2016 for World Book Day, and a handmade book in 2023 titled The Story of a Story for the British Library[3]
The Supertato books have regularly topped the children's book charts including in 2020,[6] 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, and The Guardian described Supertato as "an absolute juggernaut of a book, beloved by kids to the point of hysteria."[7] Linnet and Hendra's Supertato discovered a new audience when Tom Hiddleston read one of their books on CBeebies Bedtime Stories.[8][9]
In 2022 Supertato was turned into a series for CBeebies on BBC. In late 2023, a range of Supertato merchandise for A/W 2024 was announced via BBC.[10][11]
In March 2024, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Supertato books, it was announced that a special edition logo and book would be released [12] , and that The Supertato character would embark on a bookshop tour, with appearances from Linnet, including at literary festivals such as Glasgow’s Wee Write, Dublin ILFD, Hay, Barnes, Edinburgh, Bath and Cheltenham.[13]
Hendra and Linnet were the 17th most borrowed authors from British Libraries in 2024, ahead of JK Rowling and Francesca Simon [14]
Awards and honors
