Renisa (born 14 September 2000) is an Indian-born and London-based independent pop singer, songwriter, and composer. She released her debut single, "Out of My Head," in November 2023 and her first extended play (EP), "Sad Girl Summer", in September 2024. Renisa writes and composes all of her own music, which is primarily within the pop genre.

Early Life and Education

Renisa was born on 14th September 2000 in a small town in Odisha, India. She developed an interest in music during her early years entering into competitions and singing for her school assembly choir. She had also other artistic hobbies like dancing, painting, writing and therefore, began writing songs and poems in her diary from when she was 11. Being top of her class and a straight-As student, she was always nudged into academia by her family and her musical interests were dismissed. In 2018, she moved out of her hometown to Mumbai, to work full-time and also, get her bachelor's degree, that's when she taught herself how to play the guitar with the help of YouTube videos. In 2021, she relocated to London to complete her Masters degree. It was during her time in London that she began working on her music professionally on the side while working full-time and finishing her degree.

Career

Renisa's debut single, "Out of My Head," was released on 28th November 2023. The single introduced her as both a performer and songwriter. On 14th September 2024, she released her first EP, "Sad Girl Summer," which contains a collection of seven tracks written, sung and and composed by her. Her music is noted for catchy melodies and addressing themes such as relationships, mental health struggles and personal experiences.

Renisa's music is categorized within wide spectrum of the pop genre, featuring elements of contemporary pop and introspective lyrics. She cites a range of lyrical musical influences and blends her songwriting with a variety of pop styles. Each song is a lyrical journey through the highs and lows of personal experiences, capturing the essence of love, heartbreak, childhood trauma and the struggles that come with chasing dreams and being on your own.
