Renjith Israel (born 18 October 1987) is an Indian rescue worker, bodybuilder, and arm wrestler. For the past 12 years, he has been at the forefront of several disaster relief operations in India, working alongside the Indian Army, Indian Navy, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Kerala Police, and other government agencies. He has saved many lives, recovered bodies from hazardous locations, and even rescued animals, all without accepting any financial reward.

Early Life and Education

Renjith Israel was born and raised in Vithura, Kerala. He completed his schooling at All Saints Public School and Vithura Government VHSS. He later pursued +2 Computer Science at Anad SNVHSS but dropped out of LNCPE National College, under the Sports Authority of India, to focus on his athletic and rescue work.

Rescue Operations

Renjith Israel has participated in several major search and rescue missions across India, gaining recognition for his selfless and courageous efforts. He has been part of operations that include:

2013 Uttarakhand Cloudburst: A disaster that claimed over 7,000 lives.
2018 Kerala Floods: A devastating flood that severely impacted the state of Kerala.^[1]
2019 Nilambur-Kavalappara Landslide: A landslide triggered by heavy monsoon rains.
2020 Idukki-Pettimudi Landslide: He recounted his experiences rescuing victims of the landslide.^[2]
2021 Tapovan Tunnel Disaster: A glacier burst in Uttarakhand that killed 150 people.
2024 Shiroor Landslide Tragedy, Karnataka: He actively participated in rescuing people during this landslide that claimed 11 lives.

In one of India's most notable rescue missions, which lasted 17 days, Renjith was involved in saving 41 workers from a tunnel in Uttarakhand.
