Parkour Civilization is a Minecraft web series created by Evbo, first published to YouTube on October 5, 2023. The series gained widespread popularity in September 2024 after reaching internet meme status and has since garnered over 28 million views.[1][2] The phrase "No one jumps for the beef" became widely quoted by viewers on social media platforms, such as Twitter, among others.[3][2]

Synopsis

[edit]

Parkour Civilization follows the story of Evbo, a "parkour noob" living in a society where social status is determined by parkour skills. Noobs live at the bottom of society and must perform parkour to obtain food, purchase homes, and survive. Evbo's goal is to improve his parkour skills and rank up to be a "parkour pro."[3][4] However, as Evbo rises through the ranks of Parkour Civilization, he ends up unmasking the truth behind it and has to face the challenge of saving it.[2]

Reception and Internet status

[edit]

Although Parkour Civilization had its first episode debut in October 2023, it didn't gain widespread internet popularity until late September 2024. This sudden popularity occurred after a user on Twitter posted a clip from the show's opening with the caption "Here in Parkour Civilization, NO ONE chooses to jump for the beef..." The tweet garnered over 14.4 million views and caused a swarm of tweets and memes praising the series and its storytelling.[3][1]

The phrase "No one jumps for the beef" quickly became a internet meme, along with the concept. Many viewers have since praised it for its storytelling, world-building, and comedy.[2][3] As of October 2024, Parkour Civilization holds an IMDb rating of 9.0/10.[5]
