article suggestion: Power Language Index

[edit]

Dear Wikipedians working at the language portal,

have you heard of the "Power Language Index"?

I find it every interesting and ask myself if it meets the criteria for an article. What do you think?

As I'm not an expert in business English, I would be glad if someone else would be interested in writing an article.

Notice from the Portals WikiProject

[edit]

WikiProject Portals is back!

The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.

As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.

There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for improving each component of portals. So far, 2 new dynamic components have been developed: Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.

Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.

And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.

From your friendly neighborhood Portals WikiProject. Hope to see you there. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   07:35, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Portal upgraded and expanded

[edit]

Portal:Language has been upgraded and expanded:

  • Overhauled portal with modernized wiki markup using transclusion from articles to display content, which provides readers with current, up-to-date information.
  • In its former state, the portal had five selected topic entries that were transcluded from Portal:Language/Selected topic and seven entries that were transcluded from Portal:Language/Selected language.
  • In its present state, the Selected language section of the portal now has 31 entries, consisting of FA-class, GA-class and B-class articles.
  • In its present state, the Selected topic section now has 23 entries, also consisting of a mix of FA-class, GA-class and B-class articles.
  • The B-class articles added are high-quality articles that deal with their respective subject substantially and comprehensively. These articles also describe a major topic that is notable and highly pertinent within this portal's topical focus.
  • Additional cleanup and layout changes have been performed.
  • A new Associated Wikimedia section was added.
  • The portal now presents a more comprehensive offering of language-based content compared to its earlier state.
  • Of course, more expansion can occur.
  • Additional articles for the portal can be considered from those available in the table listed below.

Articles

[edit]

The following articles are presently being displayed in the portal using transclusion from articles. Consensus at VPP has approved using transclusion templates in portals, which provides users with up-to-date content that is verbatim to that in articles.
