The film begins with two neighbors, Navin Babu, a wealthy & Gurcharan, a bourgeois. Despite agonizing with a family, Gurcharan embraces his orphan niece, Lalita. At once, she gets cordial with Navin Babu's family and becomes friends with his son Shekar. Years roll by, and Shekar & Lalita amour silently with pettifogs. On one occasion, Shekar & Lalita swap the garland, which no one knows but underscored as nuptial. Gurcharan has a debt with Navin Babu, for which he pesters him. Moreover, in the absence of Shekar, he auctions their house. During that plight, Girish, the brother of Lalita's friend Aruna, relieves them. Thereby, Lalita deifies him when Shekar becomes jealous of their intimacy. After some time, in his last stage, Gurcharan extracts a promise from Girish to marry Lalita. However, it is not feasible for Lalita because she considers herself a married woman. But she is captive to the word given to her uncle. Navin Babu also dies when Shekar receives Girish & Lalita's wedding card. Hence, he is about to knit the girl his late father had selected. Girish & Lalita attend the marriage when Shekar revolts against Girish, but he keeps calm, and Lalita is also in internal strife. The rest of the story is about destiny's role in the liaison.
