Sean McGovern

Sean Gerard McGovern is an Irish criminal and part of the Kinahan Organised Crime Group.[1]

Early life

He is originally from Drimnagh in Dublin.[2]

Shot during attack on Regency Hotel

He was shot during the attack at the Regency Hotel.[1][3] He was approached by a Garda who asked him what happened - he refused to cooperate with the Garda.[3]

Shooting of Noel Kirwan

He is wanted in Ireland in connection with the shooting of Noel "Duck Egg" Kirwan, an innocent man shot as part of the Kinahan-Hutch feud.[2]

Byrne Organised Crime Group

He is friends with Liam Byrne who ran the Byrne Organised Crime Group, which was the Dublin branch of the Kinahan Organised Crime Group.[2]

The Criminal Assets Bureau raided Liam Byrnes' companies and the High Court found them to not to be legitimate businesses.[1] McGovern was also targeted and his assets seized as he was part of the Byrne Organised Crime Group.[2] McGovern, Byrne and other gang members left Ireland for Dubai.[2]

Dubai arrest

He was arrested in Dubai in October 2024 on foot of an Interpol red notice.[2]
