Registered voters.

[edit]

How can it be that the number of registered voters for president and for parliament differs by 15 000 ? --Yomal Sidoroff-Biarmskii 11:32, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

@YOMAL SIDOROFF-BIARMSKII: It's not an uncommon occurrence. It usually happens when voters are able to register to vote for the national-level vote (e.g. the President) but not constituency-based votes (e.g. the National Assembly) and is typically caused by overseas voters being unable to vote in the parliamentary elections. I have checked another source (Dieter Nohlen's book) and that has the same discrepancy. Number 57
@Number 57: Thank you. Does it change anything that the number of total votes in the 1993 election is equal? --Yomal Sidoroff-Biarmskii 16:07, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@YOMAL SIDOROFF-BIARMSKII: Presumably there was a change in the electoral system; this (2000) was the first under the new constitution. Number 57 22:02, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
