Note about page creation

[edit]

Note to anyone who think this is "crystal-balling" and want to delete it - although ACL 2007 has not started yet, I created this page because some information about ACL 2008 is already known (the Australian entrants). The page is linked in the intro para to some articles (eg Melbourne Victory F.C. so I don't think I have been premature in creating the article. -- Chuq 11:05, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Urawa Reds have also qualified for the ACL in 2008 after winning the Emporers Cup. Gaijin84 23:59, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So which idiot deleted that? They won the 2006 Emperor's Cup which is played on 1 January, 2007 and due to AFC rules can only enter the winner in the 2008 edition. Their entry this year is based on the fact that they won the 2005 edition and also won the J-League which meant that Kawasaki went through. Because they won the 2006 edition, they enter the 2008 ACL. Gaijin84 12:12, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like it was deleted here when the page was reformatted. Hard to say if it was intentional or not. Could have been an honest mistake like I made on the 2007 page. Neier 13:55, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's not too early for the knockout stage section to be on the page when several teams have already qualified, and the quarter final draw is only 5 days away. NTRabbit (talk) 17:04, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya home matches venue

[edit]

Why Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya play their home match in Kuwait ? They have their own international stadium. Albert (talk) 00:21, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Probably the same reason the Iraqi national team is playing all its World Cup Qualifier home games in the UAE, security NTRabbit (talk) 05:36, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A few minor things I don't know how to set up

[edit]

1. Should we set up a leading goalscorers table? 2. Should the AFC CL main page (ie. the one that lacks a date) have a current event link in the infobox, like some other sports events do when an iteration of the competition is on)?

Cheers, 121.208.21.18 (talk) 00:45, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Created a top scorers table. Please update if anyone has the time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jxp (talkcontribs) 02:27, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We should probably think about cutting the table back to those with 3 goals or more at the end of this matchday NTRabbit (talk) 14:33, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have added the knockout stage section, identical to the one used for the 2007 tournament page, and inserted correct dates and the current reigning champion (Urawa Red Diamonds) NTRabbit (talk) 07:18, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article format quality

[edit]

Please refer to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Article format quality of AFC Club Competitions articles. Raymond "Giggs" Ko 06:25, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FC Bunyodkor / Kuruvchi

[edit]

Since the club changed names in the middle of the season, does it make sense to change the club name only in the knockout round? Or is this too confusing? Jxp (talk) 12:35, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For consistency I would keep the current name throughout the entire article and just make a note about the name change where appropriate. Lympathy Talk 14:56, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Final Venues

[edit]

In order to stop the revert-war about the venues for the final, this is from AFC's site. The first leg will be in Japan and Adelaide/Kuruvchi will host the 2nd leg
