Penalties and retirements

[edit]

@Unnamelessness, @Pelmeen10 — while the tables for retirements and penalties are a good addition, the key is completely unnecessary. We haven't used those coloured labels in years. 1.144.108.89 (talk) 12:46, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It is OK to remove the key as far as I am concerned and the reason why I use colours is to make it clear. — Unnamelessness (talk) 12:59, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't need to be made clear. It's there in the text. The coloured badges are a hangover from when we used to have one championship article rather than four. 1.144.108.89 (talk) 13:18, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The "class" column in pervious years are all use those coloured labels. We have used it for years and it works well. I cannot find any reason why you feel so unaccustomed. — Unnamelessness (talk) 13:28, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Pelmeen10, @Prisonermonkeys, @Tvx1, I am wondering your opinions. — Unnamelessness (talk) 13:33, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, this IP is Prisonermonkeys. Secondly we need a key here. Color symbols are being used without any explanation what they mean. It's most problematic with the tyre symbols. There even were two M's with just different colors. That's insufficient since there are people, like Prisonermonkeys, who don't see all colors or even any at all.Tvx1 13:52, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So, what's your suggestion? Revert the key or remove the colors? — Unnamelessness (talk) 14:07, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The solution is simple. Get rid of the key and remove the colours from the tables. They add nothing to the article that plain text does not already do. Keeping it all is a classic case of over-designing a table. 1.144.108.89 (talk) 14:15, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm getting a bit confused here. What key are you talking about? I don't see any key in the article.Tvx1 20:33, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Tvx1 — there was a key. Under the old system, we used to have a coloured badge for each class of competition. For some reason, they were being included in this article with the penalty and retirement tables, which are relatively new additions to rally reports. If you look at previous rallies this year, the key is probably still there. 1.129.105.101 (talk) 21:34, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It was a bit too colourful before, yes. --Pelmeen10 (talk) 22:37, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's not that it's too colourful, but that it was big—bigger than the tables it was describing—and outdated. All the article needs is a cell with "WRC-2" (or what have you) in it and it's just as effective. 1.129.105.137 (talk) 00:50, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@1.129.105.101 (prisonermonkeys) I also thought there's no such thing as "WRC3J" until I saw wrc.com - startlist. --Pelmeen10 (talk) 22:37, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The 3 and the J are separate championships and should be treated ss such. Especially since you can compete in the 3 without competing in the J. 1.129.105.137 (talk) 00:50, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Unnamelessness, @Pelmeen10, @Tvx1 — I'm not sure the green and pink shading of the retirement table is necessary, either. Sure, it correlates with the crew electing to continue or retire, but we already have a column for that. Likewise the bold classes and re-entry. 1.129.105.22 (talk) 11:58, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Colors and boldface help us to read, especially when it has too many crews. That's my point. — Unnamelessness (talk) 12:24, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I would dispute that entirely. The colours have no explanation to them, and as Tvx1 pointed out, some people—myself included—are colour-blind. I only know the colours used are red and green because I know the hexadecimal codes. The bold font doesn't add much of anything, either. It's worth remembering that the simplest way of doing things is the best. 1.129.105.22 (talk) 12:37, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry to that and completely understand your situation. If it can help the people like you, I am pleased to modify. — Unnamelessness (talk) 12:41, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Don't modify it. Remove it. 1.129.105.22 (talk) 12:47, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

About Henri Hokkala

[edit]

@Pelmeen10, @Tvx1, @1.144.111.110 (prisonermonkeys) — I am a bit confused when I edit J-WRC points regarding Henri Hokkala.

1) WRC official website shows that his category is WRC-3 and J-WRC. Source: wrc.com - startlist

However, e-wrc shows that his category is only WRC-3. Source: ewrc.com - startlist

2) Emil Bergkvist and Ken Torn was awarded 12 and 9 bonus points respectively, total 21, while Rally Finland has 23 stages. Accordingly, two bonus ponits are not awarded.

Interestingly, Henri Hokkala won SS5 and SS6 in J-WRC category, but wrc official website shows that he was not awarded that two bonus points.

What's going wrong? — Unnamelessness (talk) 05:47, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Have no idea why the 2points are not listed, maybe a mistake or somekind of rules. [1] But ewrc-results have made a mistake. Pelmeen10 (talk) 22:20, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I added those 2 points provisionally. If you guys know what's going on, feel free to be modified. — Unnamelessness (talk) 03:21, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
wrc.com has now added those 2points to Hokkala. --Pelmeen10 (talk) 17:51, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Great. :) — Unnamelessness (talk) 03:58, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
