Scope of Crisis in Need of Clarity

[edit]

Just finished copy/edit and one of the areas that's a bit fuzzy is the original article text pretty clearly delimiting the crisis as the legislation passed between March 25-28, 2019. That would be fine if the article were for the 2019 Mongolian Constitutional Reform or Addendum or something specific to legislation, but considering there are sources linked in the article itself (e.g. https://thediplomat.com/2019/01/mongolias-crisis-of-democracy-continues/) that depict the political unrest happening earlier in 2019 surrounding the same topic of constitutional separation of powers, it seems like the January ousting of Miyegombyn Enkhbold should be considered part of the crisis and not the background preceding it. I suggest we either:

  • Rename the article so instead of crisis it is clearer that the legislation is the focus
  • Move the current background content into the main events section as part of the crisis. Then, in the background section, include more information about (1) the torture and murder of Sanjaasürengiin Zorig (2) the SME scandal (3) MANAN, which seems like it might warrant its own article down the road
